Before You Light
Trim the wick to 5mm before every burn. This keeps the flame clean, prevents soot, and ensures an even melt pool.
Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from draughts, pets, and curious hands.
The First Burn Matters
The first burn sets the memory of your candle.
Allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the glass on the first lighting. This usually takes 2–3 hours depending on the size of the candle. This prevents tunnelling and ensures every future burn is even and beautiful.
How Long to Burn
For best results, burn your candle for 2–4 hours at a time.
Avoid burning for more than 4 hours to protect the fragrance quality and the vessel.
Let the wax fully cool and harden before relighting.
Keep the Flame Clean
If the flame becomes tall or smoky, gently extinguish it, trim the wick back to 5mm, and relight once the wax has cooled.
Remove any mushrooming or wick debris before each burn.
When to Stop
Stop burning your candle when 10mm of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. This protects the glass from overheating.
Extinguishing
Always extinguish by gently dipping the wick into the melted wax or using a candle snuffer. This prevents smoke and keeps the wick primed for the next burn.
A Final Note
Your Cornish Nook candle is designed to be a slow, comforting experience — soft glow, clean burn, and a beautiful fragrance that gently fills the room.
Treat it well, and it will reward you with many hours of warm, coastal calm ✨
